Kinematic Analysis of the Racket Position during the Table Tennis Top Spin Forehand Stroke

The present study aims to assess the position of racket, and racket height with respect floor, during table tennis top spin stroke. A stereophotogrammetric system (Smart-D, BTS, 8 cameras, 550 Hz) was used track cross-court (CC) long-line (LL) shots. Ten national level players completed ten CC LL strokes responding a robot machine. motion throughout shot showed specific technical characteristics: minimum detected backswing phase; at end phase (maximal distance racket/table) higher than minimum; maximum velocity (ball/racket impact) greater net’s height. Furthermore, occurred forward swing. No differences in these kinematic variables between were found. Conversely, inclination moment speed vs. CC. From practical perspective, findings suggest that need introduce exercises order increase forehand stroke, improve its effectiveness.
